Onlinedejting - ”det är liksom inte svart och vitt” : En enkätstudie om olika generationers attityder till onlinedejting i Sverige

Sammanfattning: In less than two decades, online dating services have gone from being seen as a marginal and stigmatised practice, to being a regular activity in people's social and romantic lives. This thesis intends to examine Swedish attitudes towards the digital phenomena of online dating and online dating services. The study was conducted through a quantitative method in the form of an online survey, with the main purpose of investigating the attitudes towards online dating among people between the ages of 20-65 in Swedish society. Their relationship with and understanding of online dating services was also investigated. The survey included nine questions, which were a mix of multiple choice, ratings of statements and optional freetext. Out of the 77 participants who contributed, 75% were within the age group 20-26 years old, 5% were 27-42 years old, 10% were 43-58 years old and 9% were 59-68 years old. Furthermore, the study is based on earlier research and relevant theories in order to understand and interpret the gathered material. The results show that there is a trend of an increasing attitude towards online dating as the new norm within the dating culture in Sweden. Despite the strong stereotypes and connotations with online dating, Swedish people have accepted that online dating has now become the new ”traditional” form of dating. Regardless of people's relationship status, experience with online dating, age/generation, or tech savvy, more people are open to the possibilities that online dating brings.
