Sammanfattning: Housing segregation is one of the main social problems in Malmö. In order to achieve a socially sustainable environment, the citizens have to feel like they are a part of the development of their environments. Perhaps an increased level of citizen participation can solve the problem? The aim of this study is to analyse the project Bo100 in Malmö from a social sustainability perspective, with a focus on citizen participation and citizens’ influence in their residential environment. The theoretical concepts used in this study include Arnstein’s Ladder of Citizen Participation (1969), Cardullo & Kitchin’s Scaffold of Smart Citizen Participation (2019), as well as theories of social sustainability in planning. The methods used in this study are semi-structured interviews, as well as analysis of relevant literature and media. The conclusion in this study, based on collected data, suggests that there are a lot of possibilities for citizen participation in Bo100, but the experiences of level of participation varies between residents and cases of participation. There is a difference in the experience of participation and influence between the residents, especially between the older and the younger residents. The experienced level of participation used to be better, but it has deteriorated. The reason for this could be a shift in the diversity of ages of the residents.
