Traumateamsövningar - vad kommer patienten till del?

Sammanfattning: Background: In today's Swedish health care, it is required that the various professionals must work together in teams to safer care. Several professionals with various skills expected working together in the traumateam at the care of the traumapatient. At the same time, research shows that substandard teamwork leads to avoidable errors in care. One way to improve teamwork is to practice. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to shed light on the experiences of the traumateam exercises that exercise participants feel has been favorable for the patient at the initial care of trauma patients. Method: Phenomenographic analysis of individual interviews of participants from traumateam exercises at a hospital in southern Sweden were chosen for the study. The strategically selected studypopulation consisted of eight participants divided into surgical-, anestsesi- and orthopedic doctors and emergency-, anesthesia- and intensivcare nurses. Results: Participants felt that it is the improved team work that the patient will benefit of the traumateam exercises. In the improved team work includes clearer leadership, improved communication, increased knowledge of materials and processes and a safer and more efficient process. Conclusion: The results identified the same themes as in other studies identified as weak points in the care of the traumapatient, this may indicate that this hospital practices on the torque favorable to patient safety.
