Betydelsen av yrkesmässig handledning ur skolsköterskors perspektiv
Sammanfattning: Background: School Nursing of today is a wide and complex field. It demands a high levelof cooperation but at the same time it means a lot of lone work. Furthermore, the field hasexpanded over time. Earlier School Nursing was ment to focus on corrective and preventivehealth work whilst today the regulatory documents emphasize health promotion, and not onlyon an individual level but also on a group- and organizational level. Clinial supervision seemsto be asked for, but up til today there are no studies of the benefits of clinical supervisionspecificly for School Nurses.Purpose: The purpose of the studie was to illustrate School Nurses experiences of clinicalsupervision.Method: A qualitative interview study was conducted where five School Nurses withexperiences of clinical supervision were interviewed. The interviews were analyzed byqualitative content analysis according to Hsieh and Shannon (2005) and Elo and Kyngäs(2008). The approach was deductive using Proctor´s (2010) model of the three functions ofclinical supervision as the coding scheme for the analysis. Results: The result is presented under the three categories in Proctor´s (2010) model, whichdescribes clinical supervision as supportive, formative and normative. The importance ofclinical supervision for the health promotive work has gotten a subheading of its own. Conclusion: The result shows that the supportive and the formative functions are the mostprominent ones, whilst the normative function is not as clear. Clinical supervision is mainlyseen as a forum for discussions about the daily challenges for School Nurses and not as a toolto meet the changing demands from the regulatory documents on the profession. However, clinical supervision can strengthen School Nurses in areas they themselves experience ascentral in their daily profession.
