1. Numerical Simulations of Resonant Tunnelling Diodes
Kandidat-uppsats, KTH/Skolan för teknikvetenskap (SCI)Sammanfattning : In this thesis, four different numerical techniques are implemented for the purpose of simulating resonant tunnelling diodes (RTDs). The chosen methods were: piecewise constant transfer matrix (TMM-C), piecewise linear transfer matrix (TMM-L), quantum transmitting boundary method (QTBM), and the Crank-Nicolson method (CN). LÄS MER
2. Creating Artificial Quantum Chiral States : Time Evolving Open Spin Chains
Kandidat-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/MaterialteoriSammanfattning : The discoveries in applications of chirality in various areas of science seem to never cease to emerge. Chirality, being the property that some objects are geometrically distinguishable from their mirror image, is a tiny difference of vast importance. LÄS MER
3. Local Integrals of Motion from Neural Networks
Master-uppsats, KTH/FysikSammanfattning : Neural network quantum states (NNQS) is a novel machine learning method, based on restricted Boltzmann machines, previously used to represent the wave function in many-body quantum mechanics. In this thesis, we use NNQS to instead find integrals of motion, i.e., operators, commuting with the Hamiltonian, describing a system. LÄS MER
4. Braids and configuration spaces
Kandidat-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Geometri och fysikSammanfattning : A configuration space is a space whose points represent the possible states of a given physical system. As such they appear naturally both in theoretical physics and technical applications. LÄS MER
5. An Introduction to Hitchin Systems
Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Matematik LTH; Lunds universitet/Matematik (naturvetenskapliga fakulteten); Lunds universitet/MatematikcentrumSammanfattning : This thesis aims to introduce the tools that are needed to understand — and historically led to the inception of — Hitchin systems. We lay out a basic theory of Hamiltonian systems on symplectic manifolds, and prove the Liouville-Arnold theorem, which states that integrable Hamiltonian systems admit coordinates in which their solution is basically linear.
