  3. 3. A European Material Kuznets Curve

    Kandidat-uppsats, Stockholms universitet/Nationalekonomiska institutionen

    Författare :Pyry Järvinen; Emil Fernström; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Material Kuznets Curve; Environmental Kuznets Curve; Economic Growth; Economics Development; Material Footprint; Emissions; Sustainable Growth; Decoupling; Europe;

    Sammanfattning : This bachelor thesis investigates the correlation between 28 European countries’material footprints (MF), as proxied by their Raw Material Consumption (RMC)per capita, and the environmental impact indicated by their carbon dioxide (CO2)emissions per capita, respectively, with their economic development, measured bytheir purchase power parity adjusted gross domestic product (GDP) per capita,during the period of 2008 to 2019. Specifically, through the theoretical frameworkof the Environmental Kuznets Curve (EKC) and by utilizing Fixed EffectsOrdinary Least Squares regression models as well as Pooled Mean Groupestimation, the thesis asks whether or not evidence can be found for the possibleexistence of an EKC, an inverted-U shaped relationship between environmentaldegradation and economic development, within this European context. 4. 4. The Impact of China's Digital Economy Development on Carbon Emissions - Taking 31 Key Cities as Evidence

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Ekonomisk-historiska institutionen

    Författare :Chu Han Qin; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Digital economy; Carbon emissions; Low-carbon development; Information and communication technology ICT ; Inverted U-shape; Environmental Kuznets Curve EKC ; Business and Economics; Social Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Environmental deterioration led by global warming is accelerating, and low-carbon development has become a global consensus. China, as the world's largest developing country, has also responded to low-carbon development and proposed a "30.60" dual-carbon target aimed at reducing carbon emissions. LÄS MER

  5. 5. The regional test of relationship between economic growth and CO2 emissions : --Evidence from Chinese provinces

    Kandidat-uppsats, Jönköping University/Internationella Handelshögskolan

    Författare :Thoth Mo; Weibin Wang; [2023]
    Nyckelord :EKC; high-income provinces; low-income provinces; Inverted U-shaped relationship; turning point;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis has investigated the validity of the Environmental Kuznets Curve in the provinces of China which assumes the increase in GDP per capita (income per capita) would generate the raise of CO2 emissions (pollution) until a turning point in which CO2 emissions start decreasing. The study includes 30 provinces over a period spanning from 2000 to 2019 by applying OLS and Fixed-effects regression model with panel data. LÄS MER
