    Sammanfattning : In this paper I am studying the orchestral work Lontano (1967) by György Ligeti (1923-2006) and its use in the films The Shining (1980), by Stanley Kubrick, and Shutter Island (2010), by Martin Scorsese. The purpose has been to apply an unusual perspective on film music, based on one selected musical work and how it is used in moving images, instead of the more common method where the entire soundtrack of one specific movie is studied.
