1. Nya metoder för fernissaborttagning – En komparativ studie
Kandidat-uppsats, Göteborgs universitet/Institutionen för kulturvårdSammanfattning : In recent years, new varnish removal methods have emerged in conservation, with two notable approaches: the tissue-gel composite method, involving gel-coated tissue material pressed onto varnished surfaces for simultaneous dissolution and binding, and the use of Evolon® CR textile saturated with solvent. Evolon® CR offers an alternative to gels and tissue-gel composites, aiming to eliminate residue from gel thickening agents and the need for mechanical cleaning, while enabling the use of non-polar solvents in a bound form. Kandidat-uppsats, Göteborgs universitet/Institutionen för kulturvårdSammanfattning : In this thesis, bacteria and mold infestation of silk artefacts are investigated through a literature review, a survey sent out to textile conservators, an interview with a mycologist, and an examination of a mold infested robe used as a case study. The robe was examined using methods, including ATR-FTIR, found in scientific literature and methods, including light microscopy, retrieved from the conservators’ recommendations in the survey.
