  1. 6. Exploring alternative surfactants to replace PEG within lipid nanoparticles

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Livsmedelsteknik och nutrition (master); Lunds universitet/Bioteknik (CI); Lunds universitet/Bioteknik (master)

    Författare :Elina Edidovica; [2024]
    Nyckelord :Lipid nanoparticle; polyethelyne glycol PEG ; alpha-tomatine; N-hexadecyl beta d-maltoside HDM ; DOPC; DPPC; cholesterol; film hydration; stability study; DLS; Cryo-TEM; SAXS; pharmaceutical formulation; Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Over the past decade an increasing amount of studies has demonstrated that PEGylation not only precipitates reductions in drug delivery efficiency but also triggers the immune system to produce antibodies, specifically anti-PEG antibodies. The objective of my thesis is to explore alternative surfactants that could viably replace PEG within lipid nanoparticles. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Relations between intracellular pH and gamma-aminobutyric acid levels in tea (Camellia sinensis) leaves, after two types of anaerobic treatment

    L3-uppsats, SLU/Dept. Of Plant Biology

    Författare :Mingmin Tao; [2023]
    Nyckelord :tea leaves; intracellular pH; gamma-aminobutyric acid; glutamate; decarboxylase; fluorescent dye;

    Sammanfattning : Tea (Camellia sinensis) is one of the three major non-alcoholic beverages in the world. In Gabaron tea, the levels of γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) are more than 1.3 mg/g. In the human body, GABA lowers blood pressure and cholesterol levels. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Characterization of Mitilysin Pores by Cryo-electron Microscopy

    Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för biologisk grundutbildning

    Författare :Vladimir Novakovic; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Mitilysin; Mly; Structural Biology; Cryo-EM; pore; toxin; pore forming proteins; pore forming toxins; PFP; PFT;

    Sammanfattning : Pore forming toxins (PFTs) are a large group of proteins found mainly in bacteria with some exceptions found in animals. They bind and form pores in their target membranes and form pores, which leads to cell death. Among these are cholesterol-dependent cytolysins (CDC), which require the presence of cholesterol to bind target membranes. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Sustainable Polymer Production: Investigating Synthesis and Copolymerization of Cyclic Ketene Acetals

    Kandidat-uppsats, KTH/Kemiteknik

    Författare :Soufian Bourraman; Stella Staffas; Adam Brandt; Simon Isaksson; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Monomers; polymers; radical; radical ring opening polymerization; polymerization; BMDO; MMA; MVL; MBL; comonomer; copolymer; rROP; sustainable; biobased; degradable; monomer synthesis; plastic; polyester; bulk; solution; NMR; FTIR; TGA; DSC; SEC; hydrolysis; molecular weight; diol; ester bonds;

    Sammanfattning : The large amount of non-degradable plastic waste has become a significant environmental concern, leading to an increased need for degradable plastics. Here in, to create degradable polymers, polyesters were produced through radical ring opening polymerization using cyclic ketene acetals. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Explainable Machine Learning in Cardiovascular Diagnostics

    Kandidat-uppsats, KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Författare :Alexander Gutell; Ludvig Skare; [2023]
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The major challenges in implementing machine learning models in medical applications stemfrom ethical and accountability concerns, which arise from the lack of insight and understandingof the models' inner workings and reasoning. This opaqueness has resulted in the emergenceof a new subfield of machine learning called Explainability, which aims to develop and deploymethods to gain insight into how input data is weighted and propagated through a machinelearning algorithm.
