  1. 1. Machine Learning model applied to Reactor Dynamics

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Fysik

    Författare :Dionysios Dimitrios Nikitopoulos; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Master Thesis; Machine Learning; stability; Energy distribution profiles; Prediction; frequency; decay ratio; Data processing; POLCA-T; Pytorch; testing data; RMSE. ii;

    Sammanfattning : This project’s idea revolved around utilizing the most recent techniques in MachineLearning, Neural Networks, and Data processing to construct a model to be used asa tool to determine stability during core design work. This goal will be achieved bycollecting distribution profiles describing the core state from different steady statesin five burn-up cycles in a reactor to serve as the dataset for training the model. 2. 2. Constraining the Higgs width in Higgs production associated with a top quark pair

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisation

    Författare :Benjamin Dahlén; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Higgs; width; cross section; on-shell; off-shell; invariant mass; Standard model; upper bound; Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis we study the width of the Higgs boson in the process pp → t ̄t 4l at LO using MadGraph5_aMC@NLO to generate the events. The contributions including the Higgs signal, continuum background and interference were considered in order to calculate the expected number of events in a broad range of four-lepton invariant masses. 3. 3. Event categorisation and Machine-learning Techniques in Searches for Higgs Boson Pairs in the ATLAS Experiment at the LHC

    Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå, Uppsala universitet/Högenergifysik

    Författare :Milads Emadi; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Particle Physics; ATLAS; BDT; Boosted Decision Tree; Decision Tree; Optimization; Machine Learning; Analysis;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates the pair production of Higgs bosons (di-Higgs events) at the ATLAS experiment in the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), focusing on the channel where one Higgs boson decays into two bottom quarks and the other decays into two tau leptons. The main objective was to determine whether introducing a split in the invariant mass of the decay products from the two Higgs bosons (the di-Higgs mass) and using this as an analysis variable improves the sensitivity of the Boosted Decision Tree (BDT) machine learning algorithm to the di-Higgs signal. 4. 4. Study of Reverse Water Gas Shift reaction using bimetallic catalysts on active supports : The case of unpromoted and K-promoted FeCu/CeO2

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Kemiteknik

    Författare :Carlo Sala; [2022]
    Nyckelord :CO2 utilization; RWGS; catalyst; active catalytic support; characterization; CO2 användning; RWGS; katalysator; aktiva katalysatorbärare; karakterisering;

    Sammanfattning : Reverse Water Gas Shift Reaction (RWGS) är en attraktiv lösning för CO2-använding och minskning av utsläppen i atmosfären. Denna reaktion begränsas av termodynamiken och det finns problem med storskalig tillämpning. För att förbättra genomförandet av processen krävs utveckling av en effektiv katalysator. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Autoencoder Compression in High Energy Physics

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Partikel- och kärnfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Lunds Tekniska Högskola

    Författare :Sten Åstrand; [2022]
    Nyckelord :High energy physics; LHC; ATLAS; hadron jet; machine learning; autoencoder; dimensionality reduction; artificial intelligence; data compression; Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : Situated in Geneva, Switzerland, the Large Hadron Collider is largest particle accelerator in the world, and as such, its operation carries with it some of the greatest technical challenges ever faced. Among them are the huge demands put on data storage capacity by experiments in particle physics, both in terms of rate and volume of data. LÄS MER
