Studien har genomförts i anslutning till en utsättning av ca 30 000 yngel i Gysingeforsarna vid Nedre Dalälven som Länsstyrelsen i Gävleborg utförde under sommaren 2014 och som sedan under hösten följdes upp med hjälp av elfiske.
