    Sammanfattning : Gotland has a rich material cultural heritage from the Stone Age to the Middle Ages thanks to the island's strategic location in the middle of the Baltic Sea; especially true for the Viking Age when Gotlanders had extensive trade contacts with the east dating from the mid 12th century and Gotland’s economy was dominated by such contacts. This essay deals with Gotland's maritime infrastructure and its development between about 1100 and 1400 based on a case study of boat rivets from the medieval settlement of Västergarn. LÄS MER

Arkeologiskt iakttagbara anläggningar vid ett medeltida tegelbruk, förutom en tegelugn är följande; lertag i form av gropar eller stora gravar (eventuellt vattenfyllda), vallar efter leran som lagts till vintring, gropar eller bassänger för ältning och lagring av leran, vattenreservoarer, rännor, öppna lador för torkning och strykning och avfall från tegelproduktion såsom större mängder felbränt tegel, träkol och lera.     Sammanfattning : This paper presents an interpretation of an archaeological problem where Viking age treasure hoards on Gotland are discussed in relation to the provision of the morning gift in the medieval Guta law. There are around 700 treasure hoards found on Gotland and many of them contains what can be interpreted as female coded jewelry. LÄS MER
