Konstnärernas trädgård : en processanalys av trädgårdsrekonstruktionen på Carl Larsson-gården

Detta är en Kandidat-uppsats från Göteborgs universitet/Institutionen för kulturvård

Sammanfattning: The essay is a case study that describes the reconstruction process of the garden at Carl Larssongården that took place between 2010-2014. The survey places particular emphasis on horticultural historical values and how these are translated from theory to practice. The study also draws general conclusions about the reconstruction of historic gardens. Carl Larsson-gården is an artist's home in Sundborn, Dalarna where the artists Carl and Karin Larsson lived from 1888-1928 together with their 8 children. The home is visited annually by 40-50,000 people. Carl Larsson depicted the family's everyday life in a large amount of artwork which was also published in several books during the artists' lifetime. For generations of Swedes, the images have become synonymous with traditions, creativity, and family life. The garden was an important component in Carl Larsson's artistic expression, and is depicted in a large number of artworks, which formed an important source material for the reconstruction. Karin Larsson gave up painting when she and Carl Larsson started a family, but instead came to translate her artistry into the home, where she created abstract textiles, modern furniture, and an opulent garden. The reconstruction has further connected to Karin Larsson's artistry as it was Karin Larsson who was the driving force behind the lush garden. The essay consists of two parts where the first part describes the preliminary study carried out by landscape architect Inger Berglund. Part two describes how the preliminary study was interpreted, how values and objectives was put into practice and which general conclusions can be drawn from the case. The conclusions are that work should continue in the development of a valuation method for green historic environments and that there is no clear end to a reconstruction process. The essay also discusses the great value that is found in historical maintenance and that the documentation of these practices should be of high priority.
