Läroboken i ett digitaliserat samhälle : En läromedelsstudie om läroböckers bidrag till utvecklingen av digital kompetens i samhällskunskap

Sammanfattning: Todays‘ society is digitalized. This has effects on both the society and the educational practice. Therefore, the Swedish government has decided that all students must develop digital skills in school. This study aims to investigate how textbooks in civics can contribute to students developing  digital competence. Three textbooks have been studied using textbook theory and a method called usage-text analysis.   Some main results are that textbooks in civics can contribute to students developing digital competence, as they to a varying extent, convey information and are in line with the curriculum regarding how digitalization affects democracy, politics and the labour market. However, there are shortcomings in the textbooks‘ contribution to the development of digital competence. This consists of that the textbooks in an incomplete way, are conveying and are in line with the curriculum regarding digital sources. Furthermore, the textbooks can only to a small extent contribute to students developing digital competence, as it does not constitute an essential part of the textbooks. Therefore, the teacher has a particularly important role in ensuring an equal development of students‘ digital competence.
