The Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) becameSwedish law in 2020 and family centres are one of the institutions working with the CRC, touphold the rights of children and to promote sound childhoods for all. Aim: The aim of thestudy is to examine the level of knowledge of the CRC among the personnel at family centres;how family centres work to implement the CRC and what challenges exist. Method: Aqualitative study using thematic content analysis. Semi-structured interviews were carried outwith eleven interviewees at two family centres. Result: The knowledge of the personnelregarding the CRC varies from inadequate to some knowledge. The personnel at the familycentres are daily working for the best interest of children but the execution of the work is notconnected to the articles of the CRC. A challenge is to adapt the effort to better meet theneeds of the families, e.g. regarding responsibility and autonomy.Discussion/Conclusion: Achieving improved participation among parents and cooperationbetween families and personnel would enhance the prospect of getting closer to implementthe CRC successfully. Practical knowledge of the CRC is lacking among personnel, a vitalcomponent to successfully implement and achieve a positive effect of the work at the familycentres.
