Inledande logopediskt föräldrasamtal vid stamning hos förskolebarn – en kvalitativ intervjustudie om föräldrars upplevelse

Sammanfattning: The purpose of the present study was to describe the perception and experience that parents of preschool children who stutter have regarding the initial counselling session with a speech-language pathologist. A qualitative method was used with content analysis as the method of analysis. Eight semi-structured interviews were conducted individually with parents of preschool children who stutter. An inductive content analysis showed that the parents perceived the counselling session as positive. Further, the parents reported that the session gave them a feeling of relief. The parents described that the content of the session changed due to the fact that the child was not present and that it contributed to an open dialogue. The parents also described a change in their communication and attitude towards stuttering after the session. An implication of the study is the importance of including parents in the intervention for preschool children who stutters.
