Implementering Av Digitala Verktyg : En studie om digitaliseringens effekt och dess påverkan på några utvalda företags affärsområden

Sammanfattning: Problem: Digitization has contributed to an impact that is not just about technological evolution but rather a social and industrial revolution driven by consumers, where technological innovations are happening at a rapid pace. This means that companies need to “change” and keep up with the digital trend by daring to invest in new digital tools and develop the skills of their employees in order to primarily be able to remain competitive and contribute to efficiency. According to previous research, changes within companies are challenging and difficult to handle. Many companies invest in digitization only to "keep up with the market" without knowing exactly how a digital tool delivers value and ultimately only becomes costly. Aim: The purpose of this study is to contribute to an increased understanding of the impact of digitalization on the business areas of some selected companies in general. Method: In this study, a qualitative research method was used, where semi-structured interviews with a total of five respondents were conducted. The interviews took place with five different companies, active in completely different industries and all interviewees hold managerial positions and are familiar with all business areas within each company. Conclusion: New digital tools lead to success in companies' business areas regarding efficiency from different perspectives. Business areas such as sales, customer service and administrative within the case companies have become more efficiency thanks to digitalization, which has given more time to provide the customers, which in turn has generated increased revenue streams. Success occurs if managers and employees understand and can identify how a digital tool generates added value. It can be stated that digital tools often result in challenges at the implementation stage, which based on the analysis is mainly due to the negative attitude from employees, more specifically senior employees who are not prone to change and are also linked to a lack of understanding of digitization. Finally, it can be stated that digital competence and digital maturity internally lead to better communication, which in turn means increased understanding and identification of how work processes can be made more efficient.
