Sammanfattning: This purpose of this essay is to discuss Roman drainage and sewage systems and to discuss why certain solutions were chosen at certain places. The focus will be Romanised systems and the material therefore discusses primarily finds from the central areas of the empire between 44 B.C and 235 A.D. Provincial hybrid systems will not be included. The aim is to reach conclusions concerning the efficiency of different solutions, the ability to implement these systems and to do this in a manner which allows the reader to follow the complicated various systems and understand how they operate.
