  1. 1. Sustainability for Whom? The discursive framing of ‘sustainable biofuels’ in the EU and Indonesia

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Statsvetenskapliga institutionen

    Författare :Alexia Fridén; [2019]
    Nyckelord :European Union; renewable energy; Indonesia; palm oil; discourse analysis; Law and Political Science;

    Sammanfattning : In order to transform the fossil fuel dependent transport sector the promotion of biofuels has been crucial in the European Union’s transition towards climate neutrality. To ensure the sustainability of biofuels the European Commission published a Delegated Act on March 13th 2019, proposing the gradual phase-out of high emitting biofuels that may cause indirect land use change (ILUC) – one of them being palm oil. 2. 2. Fields of Dreams: Scenarios to Produce Selected Biomass and Renewable Jet Fuels that Fulfill European Union Sustainability Criteria

    Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Författare :Torry van Slyke; [2019]
    Nyckelord :aviation biofuel; Camelina sativa; forestry residues; land use change; Renewable Energy Directive; sustainable development;

    Sammanfattning : Aviation greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions have risen faster than any other transport sector to double between 1990 and 2005. Such emissions from aviation could increase another 700 percent globally, and at least 150 percent in the European Union (EU), by 2050 due to continuously increasing consumer demand. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Governing at arm's length: the European Commission's orchestration of sustainable biofuels

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Statsvetenskapliga institutionen

    Författare :Alice Brokelind; [2016]

  4. 4. SUSTAINABLE BIOFUELS IN CAMEROON: THE INFLUENCE OF THE EUROPEAN UNION RENEWABLE ENERGY DIRECTIVE (EU-RED) ON THE PRODUCTION AND USE OF BIOFUELS IN CAMEROON.

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för kulturgeografi och ekonomisk geografi; Lunds universitet/Humanekologi

    Författare :Deborah Ndobe Enongene; [2014]
    Nyckelord :EU-RED; liquid biofuels; sustainable sustainability; sustainability criteria requirements; drivers; influence; Cameroon; feedstock; economic operators; Jatropha; palm oil; Social Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : There are a lot of debates surrounding the sustainability of liquid biofuel as a means of mitigating some global challenges like climate change and energy insecurity. The European Union (EU) for example has set up renewable energy targets and sustainability criteria. Biofuel is expected to contribute significantly to meet up with these targets. LÄS MER

  5. 5. The Achilles heel of the EU's Renewable Energy Directive sustainability criteria : the policy on biofuel and its limitation to understanding sustainability

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/LUCSUS

    Nyckelord :dominance of GHG accounting; sustainability criteria; Renewable Energy Directive; biofuels; sustainability science; Social Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Within the Renewable Energy Directive, the European Union has embedded sustainability criteria, addressing sustainable biofuels. Due to criticism, the sustainability criteria have been re-examined by the EU in the light of Indirect Land Use Change (ILUC). LÄS MER
