  1. 31. Assessing annual forest phenology: a comparison of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) and phenocamera datasets

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Författare :Shangharsha Thapa; [2020]
    Nyckelord :Geography; Ecosystem Analysis; Near-surface Remote Sensing; UAV; Phenocamera; Forest Phenology; Phenophase; Seasonality; NDVI; GCC; Geomatics; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Near-surface remote sensing platforms such as Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and phenocameras appear to be potential platforms for keeping track of seasonal dynamics at a local scale. This research focusses on extracting time series of different vegetation indices (VIs) from both platforms, computing seasonality events from them and comparing the results against spectral sensor data. 2. 32. ENSO teleconnections - Analysis of time lag between tropical Pacific sea surface temperature and climate and vegetation anomalies

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Författare :Jiri Navrátil; [2020]
    Nyckelord :Physical Geography and Ecosystem Analysis; ENSO; teleconnections; climate; NDVI; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) affects weather and climate in regions spread all around the Earth via teleconnections. While quite a lot of research has been done on recognizing what regions are affected by these and what is the sign of the associated temperature, rainfall and vegetation anomalies, not that much attention has been paid to the timing of the impacts with respect to the ENSO state. 3. 33. A global analysis on impact of conflicts on long-term greening trends

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Författare :Mathias Welp; [2020]
    Nyckelord :NDVI; Conflicts; UCDP; GIMMS; Google Earth Engine; Physical Geography; Ecosystem Science; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Armed conflicts were and are still shaping the global terrestrial land surface and can have severe direct and indirect impacts on societies, economies and the environment. This study attempts to assess the impact of armed conflicts on vegetation on global and regional scale. LÄS MER

  4. 34. NDVI time series analysis for desert locust outbreak detection and quantification analysis of its impact on vegetation productivity of Sahel

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Författare :Evangelos Oikonomopoulos; [2020]
    Nyckelord :Physical Geography and Ecosystem Analysis; Primary Productivity; Desert Locust; NDVI; Time Series Analysis; Outbreak Detection; Food Security; Sahel; Insect Disturbances; GEM; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : It has been shown that the semi-arid environment of the Sahelian belt plays an important role in the global carbon uptake as the fluctuation of its primary productivity can be determinant for the global carbon uptake. The insect Schistocerca gregaria commonly known as the desert locust is a disturbance factor that can affect the vegetation productivity for consecutive seasons. LÄS MER

  5. 35. Linking Jet Stream Variability and the NAO to the Terrestrial Carbon Cycle in Europe

    Kandidat-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Författare :Emma Rosengren; [2020]
    Nyckelord :Terrestrial; Carbon Cycle; Jet Latitude; Jet Speed; NAO; NDVI; Jordbunden; Kolcykel; Jetlatitud; Jethastighet; NAO; NDVI;

    Sammanfattning : The terrestrial carbon cycle is a part of the global carbon cycle, where one important component is the terrestrial vegetation. Terrestrial vegetation largely controls the land surface carbon exchanges and leverage the atmospheric greenhouse gas concentrations, significantly affecting the trajectory of global warming. LÄS MER
