    Sammanfattning : This master's thesis explores the feminine subject in thirteen poems by the Norwegian poet Inger Hagerup (1905–1985). In the poems, the women appear as historically inferior to men. Part of this is explained by motherhood, which is described as a bodily condition that suppresses the subjectivity of the self. Generally considered the major Norwegian poet to emerge after the Second World War, Tor Ulven was, in his own self-taught way, a “poeta doctus,” although his extensive knowledge – of European literary traditions, languages, philosophy, music and paintings – rarely if ever burdened his knife-sharp poetic images.
