1. Can spawning site temperature regimes cause spawning time divergence in sympatric whitefish ecotypes? : Comparison of two hypotheses
Master-uppsats, Umeå universitet/Institutionen för ekologi, miljö och geovetenskapSammanfattning : The spawning time differs between sympatric ecotypes of lake-dwelling whitefish (Coregonus lavaretus) and this temporal divergence can be linked to the type of spawning habitat used (i.e., streams, littoral or profundal). 2.
3. Evolutionary conservation analysis of sequence variants underlying ecological adaptation in Atlantic herring
Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för biologisk grundutbildningSammanfattning : The Atlantic herring (Clupea harengus) is a model organism for exploring the genetic basis of ecological adaptation on account of its large effective population size which greatly restrains the disturbance of genetic drift. In this project, I conducted an evolutionary conservation analysis of the Atlantic herring genome using conservation scores generated by phastCon, phyloP and GERP++ in order to study the sequence variants related to salinity or spawning-time adaptation in Atlantic herring. 4. Assortativ parning hos sik (Coregonus lavaretus)
Kandidat-uppsats, Umeå universitet/Institutionen för ekologi, miljö och geovetenskapSammanfattning : European whitefish (Coregonus lavaretus) forms reproductively isolated sub-populations with different body sizes in the lakes where northern pike (Esox lucius) exists. It has been hypothesized that the initial reproductive isolation between ecotypes arises through size-assortative mate choice or because small and large individuals arrive to the spawning grounds at different times. 5. Evaluating an increased spill regime as a management tool to improve downstream passage of salmon smolt
Master-uppsats, Karlstads universitet/Institutionen för miljö- och livsvetenskaper (from 2013)Sammanfattning : The anadromous Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) is dependent on river connectivity to reach spawning and rearing habitats in rivers. Most rivers are today fragmented by artificial barriers such as hydroelectric powerplants (HEP) which impede this migratory movement. LÄS MER
