16. Mouthpart deformities of Chironomid larvae as an indicator of heavy metal polluted water
Kandidat-uppsats, Umeå universitet/Institutionen för ekologi, miljö och geovetenskapSammanfattning : Freshwater ecosystems are under increasing pressure from a variety of contaminants, including heavy metals from mining operations, which can have complex effects that are difficult to evaluate. To detect early warnings from elevated concentrations of metals, organisms are sought to be used as monitoring tools. LÄS MER
17. Long-term trends in bottom water chemistry of Swedish lakes
Magister-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Aquatic Sciences and AssessmentSammanfattning : Long-term monitoring of lake water is essential for tracking local and long-range effects of anthro-pogenic pressure and to inform policy aiming at mitigating human environmental impacts. Swedish reference lakes are recovering from acidification; are subject to climate change and increasing inputs of terrestrial dissolved organic matter (DOM). LÄS MER
19. Decomposition of leaf litter in headwater streams. : Effects of changes in the environment and contribution of microbial and shredder activity on litter decomposition.
Master-uppsats, Umeå universitet/Institutionen för ekologi, miljö och geovetenskapSammanfattning : Headwaters, which are the most common stream order in the landscape, are mostly dependent on energy produced in the terrestrial system, largely consisting of leaf litter from riparian vegetation. The aim of this study was to investigate the decomposition in headwaters of leaf litter from three native (alder, birch, spruce) and one non-native (lodgepole pine) species and how decomposition responds to changes in the environment. 20. Virus removal during artificial groundwater recharge and the effects of organic matter : Tunåsen infiltration basins, Uppsala, Sweden
