21. Developing a Resonance Correction Scheme in the LHC
L3-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/FREIASammanfattning : Non-linear errors in the magnetic field of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN often lead to undesirable resonances and instabilities in the particle motion, which can negatively affect the operations of the accelerator. This project focuses on developing a new correction scheme with a response matrix approach to optimize the values of the skew sextupolar correctors of the LHC at injection, in order to mitigate the impact of resonance driving terms (RDTs). 22. Event Geometry and Anisotropic Flow in Proton-Proton Collisions
Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisationSammanfattning : We seek to better understand the relationship between an anisotropic distribution of partons in the initial state of pp-collisions and the amount of elliptic flow. We do this through the implementation of a new model that is based in generating positions for multiparton interactions from the uneven volume created by the overlap of two Gaussians. LÄS MER
23. Monitoring energy efficiency of heavy haul freight trains with energy meter data
Master-uppsats, KTH/SpårfordonSammanfattning : In this MSc thesis, it is investigated what parameters are relevant for describing energy consumption of heavy haul freight trains and how these can be used to develop key performance indicators (KPIs) for energy efficiency. The possible set of KPI is bounded by data available from energy meters used in electric IORE class locomotives hauling iron ore trains in northern Sweden. LÄS MER
24. Test setup for LDMX HCal readout
Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Partikel- och kärnfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionenSammanfattning : It is evident from cosmological observations such as the Cosmic Microwave Background, and the motion of galaxies, that the universe consists of approximately 5 times more mass than visible matter can account for. The Light Dark Matter eXperiment (LDMX) will take a unique approach in its hunt for dark matter; it will look for missing momentum signals in electron collisions with a Tungsten target, and will be looking in the sub GeV energy range for evidence of dark matter interactions. 25. Transport of non-spherical particles in pipeflow with suction
Master-uppsats, Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för system- och rymdteknikSammanfattning : The interest of how small non-spherical particles transport behaviour when transported in pipe-flow is of large interest in a variety applications. This kind of theory have been used when studying composite manufacturing and how particles behaves in the human lungs. LÄS MER
