Storytelling: Hur medarbetare skapar mening utifrån organisationsberättelser

Detta är en Master-uppsats från Lunds universitet/Institutionen för strategisk kommunikation

Sammanfattning: Title: Storytelling – How employees make sense of organizational stories. Subject: The master thesis explores employees processes of sensemaking when reading and discussing stories about their organisation. The subject for this study is thereby called storytelling, but it also focuses strongly on the process of sensemaking. Purpose: The purpose is to contribute to an understanding of storytelling as a method driven by complex principles of sensemaking, contrary to some much more simplistic views of the method. Method: To be able to obtain our purpose we have interviewed employees of a larger organisation, after supplying them with stories of and about their organisation. Stories that have been collected among other employees with the purpose to be spread and thereby affect their views of the organisation. The material have been analysed in relation to theories of sensemaking, narration and organizational identity. Results and conclusion: The results show that stories can contribute to employees processes of sensemaking about organizational identity, but only to a certain degree. Being a multiple point of reference, as well as not beeing the only reference, that affects sensemaking pinpoints the conclusion of complexity when stories are being used to influense employees views on their organizational identity.
