Lindholmens Badhus - en reproduktion av en svunnen tid?

Sammanfattning: Lindholmens Bathhouse – a reproduction of a bygone era? This thesis discusses the development of generative AI and if we can get an extended understanding of an AI image linked to an already existing place. The essay is divided into two parts, one which focuses on trying to decode the chosen AI image based on Roland Barthes semiotics and the second part which deals with the AI image and with means to put it in its historical context based on Aleida Assmann’s theory of cultural memory. Based on these two discussions, it is clear that we are facing a new phenomenon and expanded field. So far it is therefore, which I conclude, only possible to treat the AI image as if it were a photograph when it comes to the semiotic analysis. In a similar way, it is also difficult to determine how AI images will be able to be contextualized in the future and how significant they will become when speaking of the reproduction of text to image. In my essay I try to highlight that such a development and the use of AI is entirely possible.
