Detta är en Kandidat-uppsats från Lunds universitet/Socialhögskolan

Sammanfattning: Research suggests that schools and its staff both are able to work towards detection and prevention of female genital mutilation. The purpose of our study was to investigate how school-staff on one school, relate to the subject of female genital mutilation. We accomplished that by interviewing five employees of an elementary school, and we analyzed the result based upon a symbolic interactionist perspective. In the result we could clearly see that the knowledge amongst the staff varied about the subject. It’s highlighted that their knowledge, was enquired from previous employments or on their own. Female genital mutilation stands to be a highly complex subject, and the school-staff have different ideas about how to work proactively. Today, nobody of the interviewed, are currently working actively with this subject. But it’s highlighted that there is a desire to work more active and consistent with the issue.
