Sammanfattning: Background: Previous research describes that nurse need to have certain skills such as social skills, expertise and experience to be able to act in a professional manner. Nurses with good skills, knowledge and in a good work environment can improve patients care and safety. However, this means that nurses should have the resources and conditions to be able to do a good job. Purpose: The purpose is to describe patients' experiences of nurses' care in hospital environments. Method: Five articles with qualitative method, four articles with quantitative method and one article with a mixed method were analyzed in a general literature review. Results: Patients in the different articles described that nurse cared for them in a professional manner and were responsive, which meant that patients were involved in the care. However, some of the articles showed that patients felt that nurses were stressed due to lack of time, and they had insufficient knowledge, which affected the quality of care and the patient's health in a negative way. Conclusion: It turns out that different patients have different experiences. This work provides an overview of knowledge to improve the quality of care for patients. Nurses with good competence and knowledge as well a good work environment provide better and safer care for patients who are in a hospital environment.
