Sammanfattning: Abstract Knowledge is today usually used as a way to compete in todays working life. It has become a fashionable concept and is used without a purpose. Both Plato and Aristotle used knowledge as a concept and Plato foremost acknowledged the theoretical aspect of knowledge and called it episteme. The practical aspect of knowledge was by Aristotle called techne. Today there are several concepts that describe the practical and theoretical aspect of knowledge. This study deals with the distinction between explicit and implicit knowledge, knowledge and knowing and spectator and participant knowledge. The purpose with this study was to examine and survey how the working population percieve knowledge and compare their perception with existing theories. Our general research questions was: How does the working population percieve knowledge? Is it possible to identify the western cultural-historical heritage in todays working life and in todays working individuals both conceptual and divisional? And in that case what similarities and differences can be identified? This study is qualitiative and six persons where interwied. Three people had a long formal education and three had a short formal education. The result of the study showed that there is a division into a practical and a theoretical dimension with the working population. Knowledge was percieved by the participants as everything humans do, know and think.
