Dalsländskan är kanske inte så gröm ändå… : En kvantitativ attitydundersökning om dalsländskan

Sammanfattning: The aim of this study is to compare how dales’ attitudes towards dalbo-dialekt differ between the following variables: age, geographical origin and gender. Therefore, this study presents three research questions: what attitude do dales have to their own dialect? How do these attitudes toward dalbo-dialekt differ in relation to gender, geographical origin and age? Is there any difference in the attitudes to dalbo-dialekt between people who were born and/ or raised in Dalsland and people who were not born and/ or raised in Dalsland? In order to achieve the purpose of this study and be able to answer the research questions, a survey has been chosen as the method. Through a survey it is possible to find differences and similarities in order to see how the attitudes towards dalbo-dialekt differ between the variables of the study. The survey consists of a questionnaire of 15 questions which collect plenty of relevant data and information for the purpose of the study and the research questions. The results of this study show that dales generally have a positive attitude toward dalbo-dialekt. There are also differences and similarities between the variables but the common denominator is that dales have a positive attitude towards dalbo-dialekt. This is something that surprised me a lot as I expected more negative attitudes and opinions about dalbo-dialekt and much more difference between the variables.
