6. Turbulence Intensity During Low-Level Jets in the Baltic Sea
Kandidat-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Luft-, vatten- och landskapsläraSammanfattning : Low-level jets (LLJs) are local wind speed maximums in the atmospheric boundary layer. In the Baltic Sea, LLJs are frequently occurring in spring and summer. It is an important phenomena to consider for wind energy parks, and changes in turbulence during the jets can effect the efficiency of said parks. LÄS MER
7. Comparison of intensified turbulence events in the Baltic Sea
Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaperSammanfattning : Turbulence is important since it affects the exchange of momentum, heat, and trace gases between the atmosphere and the ocean. However, measuring oceanic turbulence is not straightforward and that is why parameterizations that describe turbulence events are important. LÄS MER
8. Time-Resolved Adaptive Finite Element Simulations for Building Aerodynamics : A proof of concept on minimal computational resources
Master-uppsats, KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)Sammanfattning : The effect of building geometry on the wind environment of cities is such that it can cause problems like wind danger, discomfort and poor ventilation of airborne pollutants. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) can play a role in assessing changes in wind environment caused by building projects before realisation at little cost. LÄS MER
9. Characterisation of Low-Level Jets and their Influence on Low-Level Clouds over the Baltic Sea; Östergarnsholm Observatory, Sweden
Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/FörbränningsfysikSammanfattning : In this study, about two years of data from Östergarnsholm in the Baltic Sea are used to analyse offshore low-level clouds (LLCs) influenced by low-level jets (LLJs) in the marine atmospheric boundary layer. The LLJs are passages of strong horizontal winds near the surface and are measured using a Doppler LiDAR, which provides information about the wind speed and wind direction up to 300 meters. LÄS MER
10. Planetary Boundary Layer Height Variations Over the Tibetan Plateau in Relation to Local Climate Variables and Large-Scale Circulation
Master-uppsats, Göteborgs universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaperSammanfattning : The lowest layer of the Earth's atmosphere, the planetary boundary layer (PBL), may reach extremely high above the Tibetan Plateau (TP). Moreover, the TP is a hotspot region for climate interactions, exerting far-reaching in uences on atmospheric conditions. LÄS MER
