    Sammanfattning : The collections of the Vasa Museum in Stockholm Sweden not only include the world’s only complete 17th century warship, the famous Vasa who sank on her maiden voyage outside Stockholm in the summer of 1628, but also a unique and extensive collection of dress artifacts, fragments from clothes in textile and leather recovered during the excavation of the ship. This study aims to present historical narratives about the labour, knowledge of craft and everyday life of the ship’s crew by analysing leather mittens and other types of artifacts related to the work on board as material culture, aided by early modern Dutch depictions in art showing work being done on large ships contemporary with Vasa.     Sammanfattning : It is well established that mining and metallurgy on a larger scale in Sweden originated in Bergslagen. The historical mining district Garpenberg in Bergslagen presently show the oldest signs of mining in Sweden (2300 BP) based on a study of a lake sediment profile from Gruvsjön. LÄS MER

The aim of the study is to uncover the understanding of health, illness and the human body that is prevalent within the almanacs.     Sammanfattning : In this essay an attempt is made to interpret the landscape at the Scanian estate Torup from two perspectives not commonly used in the study of postmedieval landscapes: the ideological rather than the economical-functional, and the global rather than the local. The landscape is studied through historical maps and images as well as through field observations made during walks in the landscape, and several features are identified which indicate that the landscape was shaped, at least in part, by ideology, which was in turn influenced by global tendencies.
