    Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates the relationship between social capital and peacebuilding, and the potential contribution peacebuilding efforts can make in terms of generating social capital in post-conflict countries. Using a qualitative methodological approach, seven local civil society organizations in Guatemala were interviewed with the purpose of understanding in what way the organizations are contributing to the generation of social capital.     Sammanfattning : This essay examines the nature of contemporary UN peacebuilding mandates and the critique aimed at incorporating Western liberal ideas in postconflict peacebuilding missions. A critical discussion is provided to highlight the problems inherited in promoting liberal peacebuilding in peace operations, followed by an analysis and comparison of the mandates for UNAMSIL and UNMIS through an analytical framework of peacebuilding operations.     Sammanfattning : Uppsatsen är en kvalitativ fallstudie som undersöker varför demokratiseringsprocessen i Eritrea stannat upp. Vi har gjort en djupdykning i ett av de fall som nämns i Mansfield och Snyder artikel, Democratic Transitions, Institutional Strength, and War (2002), där de presenterar teorin om hur ofullständiga demokratier är mer konfliktbenägna.
