  1. 1. Safe Reinforcement Learning for Social Human-Robot Interaction : Shielding for Appropriate Backchanneling Behavior

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Författare :Mohamed Akif; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Human-Robot Interaction; Backchanneling; Social Robots; Safe Reinforcement Learning; Shielding; Recurrent Neural Network; Gated Recurrent Unit; Människa-Robot Interaktion; Uppbackning; Sociala Robotar; Säker Förstärkningsinlärning; Avskärmning; Återkommande Neurala Nätverk; Gated Återkommande Enhet;

    Sammanfattning : Achieving appropriate and natural backchanneling behavior in social robots remains a challenge in Human-Robot Interaction (HRI). This thesis addresses this issue by utilizing methods from Safe Reinforcement Learning in particular shielding to improve social robot backchanneling behavior. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Robot Gaze Behaviour for Handling Confrontational Scenarios

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Författare :Paul Gorgis; [2021]
    Nyckelord :Eye Gaze; Gaze Behaviour; Human-Like; Model; Human-Robot Interaction HRI ; Social Robots; Confrontational Scenarios; Blick; Blickbeteende; Människolik; Modell; Människa-Robot Interaktion MRI ; Sociala Robotar; Konfrontationsscenario;

    Sammanfattning : In everyday communication, humans utilise eye gaze due to its importance as a communication tool. As technology evolves, social robots are expected to become more adopted in society and, since they interact with humans, they should similarly use eye gaze to elevate the level of the interaction and increase humans’ perception of them. 3. 3. “Do you want to take a short survey?” : Evaluating and improving the UX and VUI of a survey skill in the social robot Furhat: a qualitative case study

    Kandidat-uppsats, Linnéuniversitetet/Institutionen för informatik (IK)

    Författare :Camilla Bengtsson; Caroline Englund; [2018]
    Nyckelord :human-robot interaction; HRI; user experience; UX; user experience evaluation; aural survey; voice user interface; VUI; conversational user interface; CUI; social robot; qualitative case study;

    Sammanfattning : The purpose of this qualitative case study is to evaluate an early stage survey skill developed for the social robot Furhat, and look into how the user experience (UX) and voice user interface (VUI) of that skill can be improved. Several qualitative methods have been used: expert evaluations using heuristics for human-robot interaction (HRI), user evaluations including observations and interviews, as well as a quantitative questionnaire (RoSAS – Robot Social Attribution Scale).
