  1. 1. Estimating historic ranges of extinct scavenging birds from North America during the late Pleistocene using co-occurrence data from the fossil record

    Master-uppsats, Göteborgs universitet / Institutionen för biologi och miljövetenskap

    Författare :Melissa Miranda; [2023-06-30]
    Nyckelord :Scavenging birds; Vultures; Co-occurrence Data; Range Estimates; Spatial Autoregressive Models; Co-extinction;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of my study was to estimate and compare the historic range of nine scavenging birds from North America that went jointly extinct with their mammalian megafaunal prey in the Late Pleistocene. Although the severity and timing of their co-extinction are strongly correlated, there has been little analytical support in providing estimates for the possible geographic distribution of scavenging birds prior to the extinction event. 2. 2. Exposure and Carriage of West Nile Virus in feathered Iberian Scavengers

    Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för ekologi och genetik; Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för biologisk grundutbildning

    Författare :Ivan Marin Cacho; [2022]
    Nyckelord :West Nile Virus; Raptors; Vultures; Scavengers.;

    Sammanfattning : Scavenging bird of prey have been abundant throughout the Mediterranean region for years, establishing a food acquisition relationship with human activities, their characteristics make them especially suitable for the recognition of dangerous environmental conditions. The West Nile Virus (WNV) considered the most widespread arbovirus has been previously discovered in our 3 species of studio. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Of Legal Mobilisation and Active Citizenship: Examining NGO Litigation in India to Eradicate Manual Scavenging

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Rättssociologiska institutionen

    Författare :Alena Kahle; [2022]
    Nyckelord :active citizenship; Dalit rights; legal mobilisation; litigation; manual scavenging; neoliberal governance; public interest litigation; sanitation; Social Sciences; Law and Political Science;

    Sammanfattning : For decades, manual scavengers – people cleaning and engaging with human faeces as part of the sanitation chain, most of whom are Dalits – in India have been protesting against the severe health risks and exploitation associated with their work. Despite the enactment of stricter laws and high-profile court cases and wins, manual scavenging persists rampantly. LÄS MER

  4. 4. MICROCLIMATE FRAMES FOR PAINTINGS ON CANVAS A literature review with a case study from Nationalmuseum

    Master-uppsats, Göteborgs universitet/Institutionen för kulturvård

    Författare :Sofia Lundsten; [2021-10-28]
    Nyckelord :Microclimate frames; preventive conservation; humidity buffering;

    Sammanfattning : The use of microclimate frames for paintings has become more common in the past decades, and it is a good way of protecting climate sensitive paintings during transport, loans, and exhibitions. This study is a literature review that aims to describe the overall practice of mounting canvas paintings in microclimate frames, as well as describe practices at Nationalmuseum, Sweden’s largest art gallery, in more detail. 5. 5. The discoloration of polyethylene obtained from chemical separation of laminates: Investigating additives and other potential causes

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Förpackningslogistik

    Författare :Can Feng; [2021]
    Nyckelord :Delamination; multilayered packaging; polymer discoloration; plastic film; recycling; Technology and Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : PolyAl, the material composed of laminated polyethylene (PE) films and aluminum (Al) in carton, is a challenge in recycling due to the strong adhesion of the layers and the low value of the end products. In Europe, recent efforts to improve the circularity of carton packages include the chemical separation of PolyAl, in order to obtain higher values of the PE and Al separately. LÄS MER
