  1. 1. Whole crop barley silage and grass silage harvested at different stages of maturity : effects on feed intake, selection, digestibility and protein utilization in sheep

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Animal Environment and Health

    Författare :Anna Magnusson; [2017]
    Nyckelord :evaluation; forage; nitrogen; wether;

    Sammanfattning : I Sverige används gräsensilage och helsädesensilage från bland annat korn som vinterfoder i köttproduktion av både nötkreatur och lamm. Korn kan sås som skyddsgröda när vallar skall anläggas och att skörda kornet som helsädsensilage istället för vid tröskmognad får vallen mer ljus samtidigt som det blir vallskörd redan det första året. 2. 2. Feed intake, in vivo digestibility and protein utilization of grass, red clover and maize silages in sheep

    Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå, SLU/Dept. of Animal Environment and Health

    Författare :Elisabeth Saarsoo; [2015]
    Nyckelord :grass; maize; red clover; silage intake; digestibility; protein utilization; sheep;

    Sammanfattning : Sheep in Sweden are usually fed grass/clover forage supplemented with concentrate during the winter season. Red clover forage fed to ruminants has shown to increase dry matter (DM) intake and give a lower in vivo DM digestibility compared to grass forage. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Effects of palmitic and stearic acids supplementation on milk yield, composition and milk lipolysis in dairy cows

    Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå, SLU/Dept. of Animal Nutrition and Management

    Författare :Caroline Robertsson; [2013]
    Nyckelord :lipid supplement; FFA; free fatty acids; milk fat globules; in vivo digestibility;

    Sammanfattning : When facing the fact that high yielding dairy cows has an increasing energy requirements, the practice of adding lipid supplements such as concentrates rich in palm oil and/or palm oil industry by-products become more common. Palm oil containing high levels of C16:0 causes high levels of free fatty acids (FFA) which are linked to larger milk fat globules (MFG) which affect the reaction of lipolysis resulting in rancid flavour and processing problems. 4. 4. Peas as feed for dairy cows

    Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå, SLU/Dept. of Animal Nutrition and Management

    Författare :David Galméus; [2012]
    Nyckelord :peas; dairy cows; feeding;

    Sammanfattning : AbstractAn approaching overproduction of cereals and a future uncertain supply of non genetic modified vegetable protein feedstuffs have increased the interest in an expansion of the domestic production of protein feedstuffs in Norway. Besides rapeseed (Brassica campestris), peas (Pisum sativum) may be the most suitable crop for this purpose. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Improved analytical capacity for determination of forage quality, utilising the gas production technique

    L3-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Agricultural Research for Northern Sweden

    Författare :Katarina Niva; [2008]
    Nyckelord :in vitro; in vivo; in sacco; gas production; gas production technique; incubation time; silage intake;

    Sammanfattning : Voluntary intake and digestibility of forages are characteristics that affect the animal's performance (Mertens, 1994). Today there are several techniques that can be used for studying forage quality and from where the results can be correlated to feed intake and animal performance. LÄS MER
