  1. 1. Additives in a steam engine to decrease friction : Friction testing of solid lubricants in powder form

    Master-uppsats, Karlstads universitet/Institutionen för ingenjörsvetenskap och fysik (from 2013)

    Författare :Viktor Lange; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Tribology; friction; wear; steam; steam engine; ranotor; invencon; invencon AB; steel; contact mechanics; hexagonal boron nitride; molybdenum disulfide; tungsten disulfide; lubricants; solid lubricants; Tribologi; friktion; nötning; ånga; ångmotor; stål; kontaktmekanik; smörjning; smörjmedel; fasta smörjmedel;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis aims to investigate the coefficient of friction between steel on steel contacts with the addition of solid lubricants such as h-BN, WS2, MoS2 in powder form, in dry conditions and wet conditions. More specifically, the purpose is to enhance the sliding between the piston rings and cylinder block in a modern high temperature steam engine developed by RANOTOR. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Decentralizing electricity generation in Cuba : Implementation of a microgrid in the sugar mil lCarlos Baliño

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Skolan för industriell teknik och management (ITM)

    Författare :Aylin Berber; Cornelia Eriksson; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Microgrid; renewable energy; bagasse; self-sufficiency; Microgrid; förnybar energi; bagass; självförsörjande;

    Sammanfattning : Cuba has a long history of different dependencies and is a country facing many energy challenges, and therefore seeks to diversify its energy sources and reduce its reliance on fossil fuels. The purpose of this degree project is therefore to conceptualize a microgrid based on renewable energy sources for local energy sustainability at the lowest cost possible. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Fibre volume fractions’ and printing directions’ effects on tribological and mechanical properties in FDM printed carbon fibre reinforced PEEK : Suitability assessment of FDM printed PEEK-CF to act in a steam engine’s ball joint, by analysis of compressive properties, impact strength, friction and wear

    Master-uppsats, Karlstads universitet/Institutionen för ingenjörsvetenskap och fysik (from 2013)

    Författare :William Tönnberg; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Ranotor; steam engine; PEEK; polyether-ether-ketone; carbon fibre reinforced PEEK; impact strength; compressive strength; compressive modulus; friction; wear; tribology; FFF; FDM; 3D-printing; printing parameters;

    Sammanfattning : The purpose with this study was to investigate FDM/FFF manufactured carbon fibre reinforced PEEK and assess its suitability to act as a sealing- and bearing material in a modern steam engine’s ball joint. The steam engine is totally free from oil due to the risk of water- and steam contamination. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Optimal dead space in axial-type expander

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Maskinkonstruktion (Inst.)

    Författare :Martin Karman; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Dead space; Expander; Steam engine; Tolerance analysis; Axial-kolvmotor; Effektivitet; Expansionskammare; Kolv; Ångmotor;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis a method for determining optimal dead space in an axial-type expander is developed. The axial-type expander in question is for use in a steam engine, a environmental friendly and fuel-agnostic alternative to the ICE-engine. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Designing of two load bearing surfaces in a modern high-speed steam engine

    Master-uppsats, Karlstads universitet/Institutionen för ingenjörsvetenskap och fysik (from 2013)

    Författare :Anders Söderbäck; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Ranotor Modern high-speed steam engine mechanical engineering KISSsoft Bevel gears; Ranotor Ångmotor KISSsoft Maskinteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The topic of this thesis is the designing of two load bearing surfaces in a modern high-speed steam expander. One of the surfaces is a synchronizing gear structure and the other a conical surface. The goal besides the design is to calculate the contact pressure these surfaces experience during operation.
