Ger striktare krav enligt detaljplaner bättre eller sämre arkitektur?

Sammanfattning: This bachelor’s degree project focuses on the subject of urban development, where the intention is to compare the approaches of the development of new districts in Copenhagen and Stockholm. In order to enable urban development, there are many underlying processes and documents that must be handled by the municipality. Among these documents, the detail- and overview plan are two of the main topics that this report focuses on. In order to achieve a more in-depth comparison of the cities, we have chosen to narrow down the bachelor’s degree project by focusing on four construction projects from the respective capitals. This has been done to enable a more detailed review of constraints on the architectural aspects. The basis for the report is mainly based on literature studies, but interviews and observations have also been of great importance for the purpose of the report. The report underlines, among other things, how urban development may suffer from a more rigorous design of a detailed plan, and what the consequences may be if the detail and overview plan contests each other. Other parts of the degree project emphasize the significance of the differences in implementation time when drawing up detail plans within each respective country, and how existing buildings can affect the design of new buildings. Furthermore, the report discusses the importance of the project leader's background. While Sweden mainly has engineers in the role of construction project manager, Denmark often has project managers with an architectural background. A clear picture of this is emphasized, as the report highlights urban construction trends in each country. Another important discussion in the report is about the mindset in Sweden during the 60's, when the million programme accelerated; How it, back then, was a brilliant solution to eradicating housing shortages, but nobody thought further than that. Today, this approach has been abandoned, as the development of a new neighborhood does not occur in one day. Planning and long-term thinking is the key to a sustainable society.
