Sammanfattning: The aim of our study was to investigate how the Swedish press and webbforums choose to portray cannabis and it’s use. The study was based on examining articles published in well established Swedish newspapers from august 2011 and on. The analysis was based on Håkan Jönsons perspective analysis, which have a strong connection to both social constructivism and discourse analysis. We aspired to examine how the problems regarding cannabis are constructed in different con-texts. By analyzing our material using six of Jönson’s problem components, name-ly characteristics, consequences, solutions, motives, characters and illustrations, we have been able to conclude how cannabis is portrayed. Our findings were that different portrayals of cannabis and it´s effects on individuals and on society in-fluence and create different kinds of citizens. The majority of the examined arti-cles exhibit a concern over the liberal points of views regarding cannabis that they see evolving in society, as well as over the negative effects they see cannabis hav-ing the potential of generating. Another finding was that the examined Swedish press wishes to inform Swedish readers about the risks associated with cannabis use. There also seems to be an agenda to dispose of perceived myths regarding cannabis. Cannabis liberals as well as users express feelings of being stigmatized, not being taken seriously and feeling frustrated over the way Swedish drug poli-tics is being conducted.
