  1. 31. Optimal foraging in an Arctic herbivore : How does the foraging behaviour of Svalbard reindeer (Rangifer tarandus platyrhynchus) respond to seasonal changes from summer through autumn of the Arctic tundra?

    Master-uppsats, Umeå universitet/Institutionen för ekologi, miljö och geovetenskap

    Författare :Emma Limosa Djurberg; [2023]
    Nyckelord :foraging behaviour; phenology; ungulate; Arctic; Rangifer tarandus platyrhynchus;

    Sammanfattning : Foraging decisions of large herbivores can be affected by many factors and have great effect on both above- and below-ground ecosystems. Here, I determine to which degree temporal (seasonality), or spatial (habitat) factors influence the foraging behaviour of Svalbard reindeer (Rangifer tarandus platyrhynchus) and asses if small-scale foraging behaviour correlates with an animals’ patch residence time. 2. 32. Legacy effects of temperature alterations on microbial resistance and resilience to drying and rewetting

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Författare :Franklin Lee Harris; [2023]
    Nyckelord :microbial ecology; soil; carbon dynamics; high latitudes; climate change; moisture stress; isotopes; respiration; trait based ecology; soil microbes; Environmental Changes in High Latitudes EnCHIL ; Earth and Environmental Sciences; Biology and Life Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : With warming in soils due to climate change, a series of secondary factors arise, which have multifaceted effects on soil microbial communities. Of these, alterations to soil moisture are among the most crucial to understanding how microbial functions will change in the face of climate change. LÄS MER

  3. 33. Reconstructing Mid-Late Holocene Arctic Climate Using Loess Deposits From Kangerlussuaq, Greenland

    Kandidat-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Författare :William Mörtsjö Zung; [2023]
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The current geological epoch, the Holocene, began 11,700 years ago. During this time, a thermal maximum in temperature was reached somewhere during the early-middle stage at 8-5 kyrs ago which was followed by a period of neoglacial cooling, culminating in the little ice age (LIA). 4. 34. Sporadic-E layers in the polar cap ionosphere : A review on Es occurrence, dynamics and formation theory

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Författare :Anton Thorell; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Sporadic-E layers; plasma physics; space physics; arctic geophysics; radar technology; UNIS; Svalbard; EISCAT.; Sporadiska E-skikt; plasmafysik; rymdfysik; arktisk geofysik; radarteknik; UNIS; Svalbard; EISCAT.;

    Sammanfattning : Sporadic-E layers (Es) are layers of metallic ions that appear in the lower E-region of the ionosphere and can last from under one hour to several hours. Es are found at all latitudes, but polar cap Es, and specifically over Svalbard at a latitude of around 78◦ , are the focus of this study. LÄS MER

  5. 35. Sagan om snödraken : Så gestaltar ryska nyhetsmedier Kina som aktör i Arktis

    Kandidat-uppsats, Högskolan Dalarna/Institutionen för språk, litteratur och lärande

    Författare :Emelie Sandvad; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Arctic; Russia; China; Framing; Media; News;

    Sammanfattning : Russia’s annexation of Crimea in 2014, and the sanctions that followed, have contributed to Russia’s turn to the east in order to find partners for its Arctic pro- jects. This development has been further powered by Russia’s full-scale war on Ukraine since 2022. LÄS MER
