  1. 6. Gravitational Collapse of a Massless Scalar Field in a Theory of Minimally Modified Gravity

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Fysik

    Författare :Atabak Fathe Jalali; [2024]
    Nyckelord :Theoretical physics; astrophysics; modified gravity; minimally modified gravity; gravitational collapse; VCDM; scalar collapse; apparent horizon; numerical relativity; Teoretisk fysik; astrofysik; modifierad gravitation; minimalt modifierad gravitation; gravitationskollaps; VCDM; skalär kollaps; uppenbar horisont; numerisk relativitet;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis explores the spherically symmetric gravitational collapse of a massless scalar field in a minimally modified gravity theory denoted VCDM (V replaces $\Lambda$ in the $\Lambda$CDM abbreviation), a class of theories propagating the same degrees of freedom as general relativity at the expense of broken 4D diffeomorphism invariance. Numerical evolution of the equations of motion reveals that for small initial scalar profile amplitudes, no black hole forms from the collapse. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Juice/JDC ion measurement perturbations caused by spacecraft charging in the solar wind and Earth’s magnetosheath

    Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för fysik och astronomi

    Författare :Derek van Winden; [2024]
    Nyckelord :Juice; Jupiter Icy Moons Explorer; JDC; Jovian plasma Dynamics and Composition analyzer; Particle Environment Package; PEP; Jupiter; Ganymede; Callisto; Europa; solar wind; magnetosheath; spacecraft charging; Spacecraft Plasma Interaction Software; SPIS; charging; plasma; measurement perturbations; perturbation; distortion; particle detector; Institutet för Rymdfysik; IRF; Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies; DIAS; European Space Agency; ESA;

    Sammanfattning :  In July 2031, a new chapter in the exploration of the Jovian system will begin with the arrival of the Jupiter Icy Moons Explorer (Juice) at Jupiter. Launched on April 14 2024 as part of ESA’s Cosmic Vision programme, the mission aims to study Jupiter and its icy Galilean moons Callisto, Europa, and Ganymede. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Efficiency by design : A way to meet expert users' needs

    Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå, Umeå universitet/Institutionen för tillämpad fysik och elektronik

    Författare :Nike Vejbrink Starbrink; [2024]
    Nyckelord :User Experience; Interaction Design; Usability; Expert Users; Efficiency;

    Sammanfattning : The administration software is a crucial component of any successful company. It is often overlooked, but it plays an essential role in ensuring the smooth operation of the business. It is the backbone of the company's operations, and it must be able to meet the evolving needs of its users. LÄS MER

  4. 9. ENERGY EFFICIENCY RATING IN DIGITAL SPACE : System Conscious Of Potential Energy Saving (SCOPES)

    Master-uppsats, Umeå universitet/Institutionen för tillämpad fysik och elektronik

    Författare :Hanna Jansson; [2024]
    Nyckelord :Energy Efficiency Rating; Web Development; Web Design; Webpage Weight; Sustainable Design; Energy saving;

    Sammanfattning : Can a tool effectively aid user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) designers, along with frontend developers, in implementing more energy efficient websites? The foundation for formulating the thesis questions and identifying the issue was laid through an exploration of related work. This study aims to present the development of a tool encompassing recommendations and practices from existing research, providing valuable support for designers and developers. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Learning a Grasp Prediction Model for Forestry Applications

    Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå, Umeå universitet/Institutionen för fysik

    Författare :Elias Olofsson; [2024]
    Nyckelord :Forwarder; Autonomous grasping; Deep learning; Multibody dynamics; Convolutional neural network;

    Sammanfattning : Since the advent of machine learning and machine vision methods, progress has been made in tackling the long-standing research question of autonomous grasping of arbitrary objects using robotic end-effectors. Building on these efforts, we focus on a subset of the general grasping problem concerning the automation of a forwarder. LÄS MER
