11. Legacy effects of temperature alterations on microbial resistance and resilience to drying and rewetting
Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskapSammanfattning : With warming in soils due to climate change, a series of secondary factors arise, which have multifaceted effects on soil microbial communities. Of these, alterations to soil moisture are among the most crucial to understanding how microbial functions will change in the face of climate change. LÄS MER
12. Analysis of energy efficient heat and lighting systems in a subarctic greenhouse
Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå, Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för teknikvetenskap och matematikSammanfattning : This report studies a subarctic greenhouse located in Nikkala, Sweden called Nikkala handelsträdgård. Through a visit to the greenhouse coupled with the creation of two simulation models this study investigates the differences in energy demand with water-carried and air-carried heating systems, high pressure sodium lights and Light emitting diode lights and insulation in parts of the greenhouse without a active cultivation. 13. POSSIBLE TIMING OF THE TRANSITION FROM PRE-INDUSTRIAL TO INDUSTRIAL CLIMATE IN THE CENTRAL TO NORTHERN OF SWEDEN, BASED ON PROXY DATA FROM TREE-RINGS
Master-uppsats, Göteborgs universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaperSammanfattning : Earth’s climate has varied through time, with orbital forcing as the most dominant force on the climate system the last million years, causing glacial-interglacial cycles. The last glacial period ended about 11.6 thousand years (kyr), ago and the last interglacial maximum around 6.5 kyr ago. LÄS MER
14. FLOWERING TIME DEPENDENCE ON MICROCLIMATE ACROSS AN ELEVATIONAL GRADIENT IN ARCTIC PLANT COMMUNITIES
Kandidat-uppsats, Göteborgs universitet / Instiutionen för biologi och miljövetenskapSammanfattning : The Arctic is the fastest-warming region on Earth. Arctic plant communities are highly sensitive to temperature change; temperature-dependent advancement of flowering dates has already been observed in the Arctic. Flowering time is critical for reproductive success. LÄS MER
15. Methane Sulphonic Acid in East Antarctic Coastal Firn and Ice Cores and Its Relationship with Chlorophyll-a and Sea Ice Extent in the Southern Ocean
Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaperSammanfattning : The seasonal retreat of sea ice in the austral spring and summer around Antarctica has a significant effect on phytoplankton activity, mainly due to light availability, meltwater input of dissolved iron, and surface water stratification. Phytoplankton produce dimethylsulfoniopropionate, the precursor to the climate-cooling gas dimethyl sulphide, which is ventilated to the atmosphere and oxidised to methane sulphonic acid (MSA).
