1. Elemental variability in tree-rings as indicator for climate change : a case study on beech and oak trees at the Laacher See, Germany
Master-uppsats, Stockholms universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografiSammanfattning : The aim of this study was to contribute to the comprehension of the connection of element uptake in trees at the Laacher See in Germany and climatic parameters on different time scales. Understanding the relationship of certain elements in trees and temperature might enable the assignment of extraordinary high peaks in the elemental concentration, which cannot be explained by temperature, to another process as CO2 degassing of the mofettes, which are relics of the volcanic past of the lake. 2. Sedimentology and Catchment Processes of Lake Bolterskaret, Svalbard
Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Luft-, vatten- och landskapsläraSammanfattning : Lacustrine sediments are important archives of landscape and climate evolution. Varved sediments offer a high-resolution archive enabling studies on annual and seasonal scale. Understanding the alteration of sedimentation in glacial lakes under a changing climate is important for paleoclimate reconstructions. LÄS MER
3. Evaluation of methods to characterise the geochemistry of limestone and its fracturing in connection to heating
Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionenSammanfattning : Abstract: In 2011 Vinnova funded a joint project between Nordkalk AB, Kalkproduktion Storugns AB (KPAB) and the department of Geology at the University of Lund. The goal of the project is to increase the general knowledge of limestone and in extension, facilitate for the industry. LÄS MER
4. Sediment variations in the Kuchi Lake, southern Taiwan: : Climate signal or tectonics?
Kandidat-uppsats, Institutionen för geologiska vetenskaperSammanfattning : Climate archives are of greatest significance when it comes to paleoclimate studies, since these types of archives in a natural way have registered and preserved the conditions of the past. There are several types of climate archives, one of the most commonly used are lake sediments, because lakes can reveal different types of information, for example weathering, vegetation and precipitation. 5. Comparison between two sediment X-ray Fluorescence records of the Late Holocene from Disko Bugt, West Greenland : paleoclimatic and methodological implications,
Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionenSammanfattning : Popular summary: X-raying the climate archive of Disko Bugt. Disko Bugt is a large bay in West Greenland north of the Arctic Circle. Because of the influence of the relatively warm ocean current coming from the south; the West Greenland Current, it has a mild climate despite its latitude. LÄS MER
