  1. 1. Norra polcirkelns uppvärmning och ännu varmare maktkapplöpning

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Statsvetenskapliga institutionen

    Författare :Ulf Liljedahl; [2024]
    Nyckelord :Klimatförändringar; Arktis; Geopolitik; Internationella relationer; Realism; Liberalism; The Arctic five; Law and Political Science;

    Sammanfattning : Today the climate in the arctic regions are changing at a rapid rate, faster than any speed previously recorded in human history but how is it impacting the geopolitical situation in these regions? New territory is being created by the ice melting and new natural resources are being found, how can this impact the current situation? This study looks at and discusses the current geopolitical situation in the Arctic using two theories from international relations, realism and liberalism and how the situation can develop using these theories. From a realist standpoint it is a balance of power held in check primarily by nuclear weapons. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Drivers of sea level variability using neural networks

    Master-uppsats, Göteborgs universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Författare :Linn Carlstedt; [2023-05-10]
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Understanding the forcing of regional sea level variability is crucial as many people all over the world live along the coasts and are endangered by extreme sea levels and the global sea level rise. The adding of fresh water into the oceans due to melting of the Earth’s land ice together with thermosteric changes has led to a rise of the global mean sea level with an accelerating rate during the twentieth century. 3. 3. Arktis, en plats för både soft och hard power?

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Statsvetenskapliga institutionen

    Författare :Ida Molin; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Arktis; Kina; Ryssland; soft power; hard power; Nordostpassagen; Law and Political Science;

    Sammanfattning : The Arctic is a changing place where the melting of the ice creates new opportunities and shipping lanes, such as Northern Sea Route and possibility for raw material extraction. However, this prospects can also be a road to conflict. LÄS MER

  4. 4. 3D modelling and resistivity measurements for hydrogeological assessments in the northern part of Vombsänkan

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionen

    Författare :Farid Khorshidian; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Conceptual 3D modelling; Resistivity; Hydrogeology; Blue Transition; Vombsänkan; Vombverket; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : The geology of Vombsänkan is characterized by a complex sequence of Quaternary deposits overlying the Paleozoic sedimentary bedrock. The area is 759 km2 and has recorded several ice advances followed by glacial retreats and ice melting. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Reprocessing weather data from Smart Stake weather stations on the Greenland ice sheet

    Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå, Uppsala universitet/Avdelningen för beräkningsvetenskap

    Författare :Leon Lovén; [2023]
    Nyckelord :ice sheet; data processing; weather station; Greenland; GEUS; Smart Stake; istäcke; databehandling; väderstation; Grönland; GEUS;

    Sammanfattning : To identify a climate trend, a lot of data is required for the conclusion to be accurate. A trend can require 30 years worth of measurements in order to say anything with certainty about how the climate is changing. It is therefore important to utilize every source of data in climate research. LÄS MER
