    Sammanfattning : I denna rapport har jag, baserat på intervjuer, litteraturstudier av vetenskaplig litteratur och populärvetenskapliga artiklar samt egna musikanalyser, sammanfattat kännetecken eller detaljer i popmusik från 1980-talet som kan sägas vara typiska soniska markörerför den tiden. 1980-talet var en övergångsperiod från det analoga till det digitala, och en stor mängd ny musikteknologi som digitala syntar, trummaskiner och inspelningsutrustning kom ut på marknaden, vilket bidrog till en hel del nya sound inom popmusiken.
