  1. 1. An implementation of an autonomous IoT system for real-time water quality monitoring with 4G and satellite connection : CatFish - Embedded systems

    Kandidat-uppsats, Högskolan i Halmstad/Akademin för informationsteknologi

    Författare :Johan Elfing; Daniel Persson; [2022]
    Nyckelord :CatFish; Embedded System;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is about implementing an Internet of Things system for measuring water quality in rivers and other aquatic environments with an autonomous water drone, where the data from various components are collected and sent wirelessly to the database in real-time. A Raspberry Pi is connected to the internet through a 4G modem and a wireless satellite communication connection called RockBlock for emergency calls and notifications. LÄS MER

  2. 2. The nutrient-color paradigm : A test based on a comperative analysis of lakes in four ecoregions in Sweden

    Master-uppsats, Umeå universitet/Institutionen för ekologi, miljö och geovetenskap

    Författare :Viktoria Nordström; [2021]
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The nutrient-color paradigm explains lake productivity as a function of the concentrations of nutrients and colored dissolved organic matter (CDOM) in the water column.  Specifically, the paradigm predicts that primary production decreases with increasing concentrations of CDOM due to reduced light penetration, and increases with nitrogen or phosphorus concentration because these are typically the growth limiting elements for phytoplankton. 3. 3. Assessment of the Contribution of Groundwater Flow and Surface Flow from Bolmsö Island to Lake Bolmen, Sweden

    Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå, Lunds universitet/Teknisk geologi; Lunds universitet/Väg- och vattenbyggnad (CI)

    Författare :Angelique Uwera; [2020]
    Nyckelord :Groundwater; Surface water; GMS-MODFLOW; Bolmsö Island; Lake Bolmen; Brownification.; Technology and Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : The increase of brownification in surface waters has been a problem for rivers and lakes from the northern hemisphere. The main factors of this water brownification are the increase of dissolved organic matter and iron in water bodies. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Långtidstrender i Rickleån : Samband mellan koncentrationer av organiskt material och vattenflöde 1970–2019

    Kandidat-uppsats, Umeå universitet/Institutionen för ekologi, miljö och geovetenskap

    Författare :Tobias Pettersson; [2020]
    Nyckelord :Organic matter; water flow; Rickleån; brownification; long-term trends;

    Sammanfattning : Dissolved organic matter (DOM) in surface waters affect many important ecological functions. For instance, transporting metals, nutrients, carbon, affecting pH and water colour. In large parts of the Northen hemisphere, surface waters have become browner as a consequense of increasing DOM concentrations and, to some extent, iron. LÄS MER

  5. 5. The suitability of using Landsat TM-5 Images for estimating chromophoric dissolved organic matter in subarctic Lakes

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Författare :Julia Jakobsson; [2014]
    Nyckelord :CDOM; dissolved organic carbon; colored dissolved organic matter; Chromophoric; landsat thematic mapper 5; subarctic lakes; Stordalen; empirical algorithm.; Abisko; DOC; remote sensing; Physical Geography and Ecosystem Science; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Recent trends of permafrost thawing in the subarctic are expected to cause increased release of dissolved organic carbon (DOC) to inland waters, which might have cascading effects on downstream aquatic ecosystems and release of CO2 to the atmosphere. This study therefore aimed at evaluating the applicability of an empirical band ratio algorithm for estimating chromophoric dissolved organic matter (CDOM; a proxy for DOC) from the easily accessible satellite images Landsat TM-5, to counter the inaccessibility of the region in general.
