  1. 1. Wildfire growth modelling in Sweden - a suitability assessment of available data

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Författare :Henrik Hagelin; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Geography; GIS; Geographic Information Science; Physical geography; Prometheus; WiSE-FASS; The 2014 Västmanland wildfire; Wildfire growth modelling; Wildfire suppression support; Wildfire behaviour; MESAN; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Wildfires are worldwide problems that stress societies by damaging their economies and they cause serious, sometimes fatal, health implications among the populations. In recent years, the rate of wildfire occurrence has increased as the global average temperature has risen. Because of global climate change, this rate is expected to continue rising. LÄS MER

  2. 2. The effect of life history and weather on onset of flowering and length of flowering period of agricultural weeds

    Kandidat-uppsats, Linköpings universitet/Institutionen för fysik, kemi och biologi

    Författare :Amanda Karpaty Wickbom; [2023]
    Nyckelord :global warming; agricultural weeds; first flowering; flowering phenology;

    Sammanfattning : With a warming climate and the usage of monocultures in food production it is possible we may face more issues concerning food insecurity in the future as pollinators struggle to find food in agricultural landscapes. Therefore, it is of value to know whether common agricultural weeds are important sources of food for pollinators. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Body weight, body condition and structural size of Scandinavian wolves

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Ecology

    Författare :My Strömgren; [2023]
    Nyckelord :age; Canis lupus; food availability; inbreeding; natal territory; season; sex; wolf density;

    Sammanfattning : Large carnivours are suffering from population declines all over the world, but many have also recolonized parts of their previous habitats. However, recovery by these species is usually slow and challenging. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Forest, Tree, and Shrub limit responses to a century of climate change in Northern Norway

    Master-uppsats, Umeå universitet/Institutionen för ekologi, miljö och geovetenskap

    Författare :Ella Björsbo; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Climate warming; growing season length; forest limit; tree limit; shrub limit;

    Sammanfattning : Climate changes have been observed in the Northern Hemisphere during the last century, causing a longer growing season and upslope expansion of forest, tree, and shrub limits. Here, a long-term historical perspective was used as a tool for investigating how climate change has impacted woody plants at the forest, tree, and shrub limits across the study region. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Multi-environment Screening of Timothy (Phleum pratense) Breeding Material for Better Forage Yield in Sweden.

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Plant Breeding (from 130101)

    Författare :Ibrahim Issa; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Phleum pratense; Multi-Environment; Forage yield; Sweden; Genotype-by-environment interaction Swedish;

    Sammanfattning : Timothy (Phleum pratense) is one of the most widely used forage crops in hay and pasture grass mixtures in Nordic countries; it’s also used in areas where it is one of the top forage crops harvested high yield, especially in boreal climates. There hasn’t been any large-scale breeding of Timothy to develop varieties that are adapted for Swedish climate and standards, which is surprising given that Timothy is the main forage crop used in Sweden.
