  1. 6. Phainesthai : Auditory Processes as Tools for Musical Composition

    Master-uppsats, Kungl. Musikhögskolan/Institutionen för komposition, dirigering och musikteori

    Författare :Luka Aron; [2023]
    Nyckelord :music; psychoacoustics; auditory distortion products; tuning; just intonation; phenomenology;

    Sammanfattning : The human auditory system can become an active agent in the production of sound when stimulated with specific tone combinations. The resulting auditory distortion products can be amplified and drawn attention to by employing certain just intonation practices – a compositional technique that may serve as a powerful catalyst for reaching different states of mind in listeners. 2. 7. The data-driven CyberSpine : Modeling the Epidural Electrical Stimulation using Finite Element Model and Artificial Neural Networks

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Författare :Yu Qin; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Spinal Cord Injury; Epidural Electrical Stimulation; Computational Neuroscience; Finite Element Model; Artificial Intelligence; Optimal Transport; EMG; Muscle Activation; Ryggmärgsskada; Epidural Elektrisk Stimulering; Beräkningsneurovetenskap; Finita Elementmodellen; Artificiell Intelligens; Optimal Transport; EMG; Muskelaktivering;

    Sammanfattning : Every year, 250,000 people worldwide suffer a spinal cord injury (SCI) that leaves them with chronic paraplegia - permanent loss of ability to move their legs. SCI interrupts axons passing along the spinal cord, thereby isolating motor neurons from brain inputs. To date, there are no effective treatments that can reconnect these interrupted axons. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Det kryper i kroppen : Hur body horror och fysiska förnimmelser förmedlas i filmmanus

    Magister-uppsats, Högskolan Dalarna/Institutionen för kultur och samhälle

    Författare :Lillieanne Johansson; [2023]
    Nyckelord :screenwriting; body horror; cognitive neuroscience;

    Sammanfattning : Under de senaste decennierna har ett stort intresse för att forska om film utifrån ett kognitivt neurovetenskapligt perspektiv växt fram. Inte minst intresserar sig forskare för vilka neurologiska processer som styr människors reaktioner på skräckfilm, men trots det stora intresset saknas forskning om hur skräckfilmsmanus påverkar läsaren. 4. 9. 'It was never about the games' : A Critical Discourse Analysis of the Construction of "Video Game Addiction" in Swedish News 1991-2017

    Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för speldesign

    Författare :Ulf Benjaminsson; Danielle Unéus; [2023]
    Nyckelord :discourse analysis; video game addiction; moral panic; moral entrepreneurs; Owe Sandberg; Patrik Wincent; youth culture; juvenism; forced treatment; Sweden;

    Sammanfattning : This theoretical thesis employs critical discourse analysis to scrutinise the construction of video game addiction in Swedish press from 1991 to 2017, and examines its potential contribution to a moral panic. Our research is based on the assumption that media discourse influences societal norms, which in turn, can profoundly affect individuals and groups. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Modelling synaptic rewiring in brain-like neural networks for representation learning

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Författare :Kunal Bhatnagar; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Adaptive Sparsity; Computational Neuroscience; Rewiring; Structural Plasticity; Brain-like Computing; Neural Networks; Hebbian Learning; Adaptiv gleshet; beräkningsneurovetenskap; omkoppling; strukturell plasticitet; Hjärnliknande beräkning; Neurala Nätverk; Hebbskt lärande;

    Sammanfattning : This research investigated the concept of a sparsity method inspired by the principles of structural plasticity in the brain in order to create a sparse model of the Bayesian Confidence Propagation Neural Networks (BCPNN) during the training phase. This was done by extending the structural plasticity in the implementation of the BCPNN. LÄS MER
