  1. 1. Minskning av palsmyrar som resultat av klimatförändringar i norra Sverige mellan 1960–2020

    Kandidat-uppsats, Umeå universitet/Institutionen för ekologi, miljö och geovetenskap

    Författare :My Apelkvist; [2023]
    Nyckelord :palsmyrar; palsar; norra Sverige; carbon feedback; klimatförändringar;

    Sammanfattning : The climate is changing at a rapid rate. This causes both an increase in temperature and precipitation in the northern high latitudes. Subarctic peatlands contain 30% of the carbon storage in the northern permafrost zone. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Evaluating DInSAR for measuring seasonal elevation dynamics at the Vissátvuopmi palsa mire complex in Northern Sweden

    Master-uppsats, Göteborgs universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Författare :André Farjami; [2022-09-09]
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : During recent years the palsa mires of Fennoscandia have reported to be undergoing extensive lateral degradation, and in a warming environment the palsa mires of Sweden among others are threatened to thaw completely by the end of this century. Since subarctic peatlands account for 30% of the global soil organic carbon storage, small degradation changes in these areas globally, can potentially change the greenhouse gas emissions on a worldwide scale. 3. 3. Object-Based Classification of Vegetation at Stordalen Mire near Abisko by using High-Resolution Aerial Imagery

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Författare :Marco Giljum; [2014]
    Nyckelord :Physical Geography and Ecosystem Analysis; Object-Based Image Analysis; OBIA; Vegetation Classification; Permafrost; Arctic Peatland; Remote Sensing; Aerial Photography; Environmental Monitoring; Landscape Analysis; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : The focus of this work is to investigate and apply the remote sensing method of object-based image analysis (OBIA) for vegetation classification of a permafrost underlain peatland in sub-arctic Sweden, by using aerial imagery of high resolution. Since the northern landscapes are an important source of naturally stored CH4 and CO2, their contribution to the global carbon cycle is a focus in research about climate change and the global methane exchange. 4. 4. Dissolved methane dynamics in a subarctic peatland

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Författare :Zhendong Wu; [2012]
    Nyckelord :permafrost; pore water; Dissolved CH₄; CH₄ solubility; CH₄ flux; physical geography; peatland; geography; subarctic; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Popular science: Methane (CH₄) is a colorless, odorless, tasteless gas that can trap heat in the atmosphere. It is believed to be a powerful greenhouse gas. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Subarctic peatlands in a changing climate : greenhouse gas response to experimentally increased snow cover

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Författare :Herbert Mbufong Njuabe ; [2011]
    Nyckelord :greenhouse gases; subarctic peatlands; geography; physical geography; climate change; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : The rate of change of our climate has been amplified since the industrial revolution and is expected to change even further by the end of this century. Global temperature and precipitation are expected to increase considerably over the next century. These increases are expected to be magnified in the Arctic regions. LÄS MER
