"Möta dem där de är" : En kvalitativ studie om samtalsstöd till ungdomar i kris och sorg

Sammanfattning: The aim of this study was to investigate from the perspective of professional supportive counselors and therapists how they approach adolescents in their grief and crisis management. This study was based on six semi-structured interviews with school counselors, a counselor on a youth clinic and a psychotherapist. The empirical material was then analyzed using content analysis. Results showed that the conversations are designed according to the individual need. The empirical data showed that it’s important to meet the adolescents where they are, both emotionally and based on their current wants and needs. The interviewees mean that everyone reacts differently and goes through their crisis and grief in different ways. The results also showed that a previous relationship favors the supportive conversations with the adolescent, but it’s also significant that the professional has an ability to create an alliance when meeting the youth for the first time.
